ISLE OF MULL

Civic Trust Award 2024

Compromising of the refurbishment and extension of an existing ruined stone barn to accommodate a new restaurant relocating from their existing premises a short distance away.

A modest timber framed and clad lightweight structure forms the extension with the existing stone barn structure housing a simple eating space open to the rafters.

The thick stone walls are punctured with large picture windows to the south-facing facade framing views across Loch Tuath to Ben More.

Underfloor heating is supplied from Air Source Heat Pumps and made viable through the creation of a highly insulated building envelope which exceeds the requirements of the Building Regulations.
